1. Each team must have at least one girl on the active roster.
2. Each team must have no more than six players on the court at one time.
3. Each Player must be in the regular rotation.
4. Players not on the court are expected to stay at courtside unless they are using the bathroom.
5. There is no recruiting for semi-finals or championship games.
6. Players are not allowed to switch teams once the season begins.
7. Players must pay to play.
COACH RELATED
1. Coaches and Referees need to report to League Directors at 6:15 p.m. for briefing each week before game time.
2. Only one coach can play at a time.
3. Only one coach is allowed to be in the rotation in the Just-For-Fun division.
4. Coaches are expected to help with crowd control at half time (especially their own team).
5. Coaches and Referees are expected to help with break down at the end of each night.
6. Coaches and Referees (determined by league) do not pay registration.
DRESS CODE
1. Players are expected to wear team shirts. Each coach will enforce this with his/her team.
2. Cleats are not allowed.
3. Guys must wear shirts. Girls must wear appropriate attire.
SCORING
1. Rally scoring.
2. Two games will be played. The first team to reach 25 points wins.
3. No games will end in a tie. Play will resume and the first team to score wins.
4. Teams that finish their game before time expires should start the next game.
5. There will be no whistle or alarm between games.
TIME OUTS
1. Each team is allowed one -30 second time out. Once into the game by more than 10 minutes, time outs are not permitted.
2. Purposeful stalling will result in a loss of a point by the offending team.
BALL CONTACT
1. A player may have successive contacts with the ball (double hit) during a single attempt to dig a ball that can be defined as hard driven. The referee will determine if the ball was hard driven.
2. The ball may be contacted cleanly with any part of the body as long as it is not held, lifted, pushed, caught, carried, or thrown.
3. Returning the ball by throwing it over the net will result in a point for the opposite team.
4. The ball must not be brought below the shoulders during a set.
SERVING
1. The serving player may stand anywhere behind the back line when serving. No step-in for the Competitive Division.
2. Just-For-Fun Division: servers that "need help" serve from the front line (take a few steps).
3. Serves that touch the net and go over are considered good or live.
4. Overhand service is allowed in both divisions by any player (coaches included).
GAMES COMPETITIVE VS. NON-COMPETITIVE
1. The competitive team may not use overhand service.
2. The non-competitive team is given a 5 point lead at game start.
3. Spiking is still allowed for both teams.
NET RELATED
1. Playing the ball off the net is legal.
2. Any bodily contact with the net, (excluding hair) is not legal and is either a side out or point loss, depending on who is serving.
3. Playing in the net is either a side out or point loss, depending on who is serving.
4. Players may cross the imaginary centerline (under the net) in pursuit of the ball as long as they do not make contact with the net or interfere with the opponents chances of playing the ball.
COURT BOUNDARIES
1. A ball that touches any part of the boundary line is considered to be IN.
2. Lines that are moved during play shall not cause the rally to stop. In the event that the call cannot be fairly made due to a moved line, the rally will be cancelled and replayed.
BLOCKING
1. Blocking is the action of a player(s) close to the net to deflect the ball coming from the opponent while reaching above the net.
2. The ball may contact any part of the player during the block.
3. The ball may contact a player multiple times during a single attempt to block the ball as long as it is not lifted, carried or pushed etc.
4. While blocking, the player may touch the ball beyond the net, provided the player does not interfere with the opponent s play during or before the attack hit.
5. Blocking does not constitute a team contact and any player may make the first contact after the block, including the player that made the block.
6. Blocking serves is not allowed.
REFEREES
1. During a game only the Coaches and Assistant Coaches are allowed to speak to the referee.
2. We reserve the right to refuse game play to players who consistently violate the rules.
