1. Game night consists of 2 games 1st Half, 2 games 2nd Half, and the Xtreme Challenge at Halftime.
2. Side/serve is decided by the toss of coin.
3. Once the first game is finished, start the next game.
4. Losing team serves second game.
TEAM RELATED
1. Each Player must be in the regular rotation.
2. One girl/one boy must be included in the rotation.
3. Each Team must have no more than six players on the court at one time.
4. Players are not allowed to switch teams once the season begins.
5. Players not on the court are expected to stay at courtside unless they are using the restroom.
6. Players can recruit friends to their team if they are "first time players".
COACH RELATED
1. Coaches and Referees should report to the League Director at 6:15 pm for briefing each week before game time.
2. Only one coach is allowed to play at a time.
3. During a game only the Coaches/Asst Coaches may speak to the referee.
4. Coaches are expected to control their team at all times.
5. No player "substitution" of players is allowed.
6. Coaches and Referees are expected to break down their court at the end of the night.
DRESS CODE
1. Players are expected to wear team apparel. Each coach will enforce this with his/her team.
2. Cleats are not allowed.
3. Guys must wear shirts. Girls must wear appropriate attire.
SCORING
1. Scoring shall be Rally Scoring.
2. The first team to reach 21 points wins.
3. Game must be won by 2 points unless the Half Time siren is sounded, in which case the team in the lead is the winner.
4. Ties at the Half Time siren will be decided by the next point scored.
TIME OUTS
1. Each team is allowed one 30 second time out.
2. Purposeful stalling will result in a loss of a point by the offending team.
BALL CONTACT
1. A player may have successive contacts with the ball (double hit) during a single attempt to dig a ball that can be defined as "hard driven". The referee will determine if the ball was hard driven.
2. The ball may be contacted and not held, lifted, pushed, caught, carried, or thrown.
3. A player is permitted to pass his/her hand beyond the net after his/her attack-hit, provided that his/her contact with the ball has been made within his/her own playing space.
4. A ball set below the shoulders is considered a carry.
SERVING
1. Servers must serve from anywhere behind the back line. Physically challenged players may take 2 steps in.
2. Serves that touch the net and go over are considered GOOD or live.
3. Coaches/Assistant Coaches must serve underhand.
NET RELATED
1. Playing the ball off the net is legal.
2. Any bodily contact with the net, (excluding hair) is not legal.
3. Playing in the net is either a side out or point loss, depending on who is serving.
4. Players may cross the imaginary centerline (under the net) in pursuit of the ball as long as they do not make contact with the net or interfere with the opponents chances of playing the ball.
COURT BOUNDARIES
1. All lines are considered to be "IN" .
2. Lines that are moved during play shall not cause the rally to stop. In the event that call cannot be fairly made due to a moved line, the rally will be canceled and replayed.
SPIKING
1. Only players in the front row may spike.
2. Coaches/Assistant Coaches may not spike.
3. Back row players may not spike the ball and may not reposition after service to be in the front row to spike.
BLOCKING
1. Blocking is the action of a player(s) close to the net to deflect the ball coming from the opponent while reaching above the net.
2. The ball may contact any part of the player during the block.
3. Blocking does not constitute a team contact and any player may make the first contact after the block, including the player that made the block.
4. Blocking serves is not allowed.
5. In blocking, a blocker may touch the ball beyond the net, provided that he/she does not interfere with the opponent's play.
REFEREES
1. Any player may be removed from the game/field for:
* Profanity
* Kicking the ball after it is dead
* Fighting or arguing with the referee.
2. Valley reserves the right to refuse game play to students who consistently violate the rules.
